| COMPANY - General Dynamics INDUSTRY - Defense / U.S. Army | THE CHALLENGE
The U.S. Army Land Warrior program dramatically improves a foot soldier's lethality, survivability and battlefield communications. The client needed a robust communications infrastructure, one that would: - Facilitate voice communications over the digital battlefield network.
- Offer robust and reliable performance.
- Use low latency network traffic.
- Require little memory for multi-party conversations.
- Support a variety of military radios and headsets.
| THE SOLUTION For the Land Warrior project, unique requirements called for a unique implementation. So Teligy designed and implemented a lightweight, configurable VoIP system with minimal system resources and maximized performance. - The solution harnessed a DSP for data compression and decompression, optimizing network performance.
- Our custom VoIP stack also supports multi-party conversation by employing on-the-fly mixing and automatic gain control (AGC).
- We successfully implemented the solution and subsequently ported it to other platforms that interface with the soldier's system (such as a commander's PDA and the Stryker armored vehicle communication gateway).
| | SUMMARY - Designed, implemented and tested a small footprint, low-latency VoIP communications systems.
- Incorporated a VoIP stack utilizing DSP-based compression and decompression.
- Delivered a configurable VoIP system that functions across a variety of military radios and headsets.
