THE CHALLENGE

A leader in a wide range of digital multimedia products needed to reduce the cost of their
hardware by removing digital loopback functionality. Teligy allowed them to keep this
feature by implementing the same functionality in a Windows Driver Model (WDM) Audio
Device Driver for Windows XP karaoke-type applications.

THE SOLUTION

Teligy closely evaluated the requirements for this project and designed a low latency digital loopback software mixer component. Our solution allowed them to maintain a key marketing feature on their audio solution using a less expensive piece of hardware that no longer supported the analog loopback path.

  • This component digitally looped the audio signal internally and was integrated directly into the High Definition audio driver.
  • The software component also monitored multiple audio streams, converting all streams to the audio format of the output stream and mixing the multiple audio stream with the output stream.
  • In addition to the mixer component, Teligy designed, implemented, and integrated functionality into this WMD audio driver to expose the mixer interface, allowing for enabling and disabling of new mixer features.
